I stopped at the Col du Glandon without any clue where I wanted to go… and then I walked and climbed, wandering around… A very nice ballad in the end, with some not so close encounters, in the unusual warm November month.
A splendid walk in wild Northern Belledonne, under a very hot sun. Above the Lac des Balmettes, I was alone till the Brèches de la Passoire, from where I could see the wild Veyton valley… On the way back, a very nice encounter with a mother ibex and her little child. Also, the first time […]
Lovely weather to see those two lakes in Belledonne. Despite a lot of people walking like me, that was a really pleasant walk, and also a good one for photography. Next time: go up till the Croix de Belledonne!
First walk of the year, on a pretty warm day that follows several days of rain till 2000m high… The trail was partly muddy / icy or covered by snow.

Not the most popular peak of Belledonne mountain range, but a beautiful walk thanks to the recent snowfall, autumnal colours and clear weather. The view from the top is purely amazing, spanning 360 degrees.
After last week’s ballad near the Lac Fourchu, I wanted to discover the area where there are many small lakes. That’s why I went to the Grand Galbert, a summit where you can have a great overview of the area, and also a view on many other surrounding mountains (Belledonne, Vercors, Chartreuse, Grandes Rousses, Ecrins, […]
By taking the two cable-cars at La Grave, we went to 3200 metres enjoying the views on the glaciers and on the surroundings. Then going down at 2400m to see the north face of La Meije. Peaceful ballad in family.
After our visit of the garden at the Col du Lautaret last August, we wanted to come back earlier in the season to see other plants blooming…

First snow of the year. 10 to 15cm at 2200m where the Lacs du Venetier in Belledonne mountain range stand.
Yet another perfect autumnal day!! How lucky we are this year: September was perfect, and October starts very well. This day, I went to the Lac de la Coche and above it, went near the "Pointe du Sciallet" summit. Again very nice light (even if I arrived a bit late at the lake).
In the morning that was a really pleasant day : climb to the Grand Colon, then going down to the Lac Merlat. Then the weather started to change, and there was little rain on my way down to the Lac du Crozet and the car park. Anyway, let’s be positive: the clouds helped me on […]
Not a lot of people on this Wednesday of September… Feeling alone while walking to the Lac de Crop, then to the Col de la Mine de Fer. I will remember the climb (yes, climb) to the Lac de Crop: I wanted to take a secondary trail that I used to take a few years […]
What a beautiful scenery for such an easy balad! Climbing by car at 2200m, then reaching a almost flat area with several lakes: wonderful view on the whole Belledonne range, looking at the Grand Rousses range and its glaciers… Enjoying the horses walking among the blueberries bushes…
A quiet Sunday visiting the beautiful "Jardin botanique alpin du Lautaret", an alpine botanical garden located at the "Col du Lautaret", a high mountain pass in the department of Hautes-Alpes in France. As we were close, we did the extra 8km to go to the "Col du Galibier"
Late afternoon walk to the "Lac de l’Ane". Wanted to see the lake from above, so I climbed to the Col de l’Agnelin, enjoying a wonderful view on the whole valley and surrounding mountains!
A nice walk to the Petite Lance du Crozet, 2355m. See a complete description at SentierNature.
Evening walk to Crêt du Poulet, Crêt Luisard and the Grand Rocher, enjoying great colors on the Belledonne mountain range.
A late afternoon walk above the Lac de Grand Maison (on the path to the Lac de l’Ane). A great challenge in terms of photography: I’m not really used to have such strong constrasts.
A two-days hike in the beautiful Veyton Valley, in Belledonne mountain range. We started at the small village of Gleyzin, climbed up to the Refuge du Vay where we spent the night. On the second day, we reached the Col du Vay, then started descending the Veyton valley… A beautiful walk!
Sunny and very hot day to go and see the the three lakes below the Grande Valloire peek: Lac Noir, Lac Blanc and Lac de la Folle. A wonderful walk: almost alone during the full day, spotted near 40 chamois…
Early morning walk near Hautecombe Abbey on the shores of the Lac du Bourget.
Week-end in the small village of Saint-Pierre d’Albigny in the Bauges mountain ranges. Despite a cloudy and rainy first day, we spent a wonderful moment at the Chateau des Allues guest house.
A one-day snowshoeing day, crossing the Plateau d’Emparis, from the Chazelet village to the village of Besse. Quite a long hike (roughly 11 hours walking) but amazing landscapes, from the view on La Meije and Le Rateau, to viewpoints on the Obiou, the Aiguilles d’Arves and the mountain range of Les Grandes Rousses.
Lovely weather for this 1-day hike in Belledonne. The day before was awful: cold, heavy rain… That’s why we saw snow on mountains above 2200m.
