New grid view on Kelkoo

April 14, 2009

Last week, we deployed a new grid view on Kelkoo. This redesign was quite a challenge for us: we felt the previous version was not provided enough data / value to the user. But at the same time we manage more than 10 different types of offers (“Shopping“, “Car“, “Holidays“, “Flight“, “Hotel“, “Car Hire“, “Credit card“, “Voucher“…), all of them can appear along each other in a search result page. So it was a nice challenge in terms of information hierarchy and visual consistency, for both the simple view and the extended view that now appears when you roll over an offer. We may need to do further adjustments in the coming weeks; but overall, the feedbacks we received on this new grid view are promising. And you, what do you think of this redesign?

I like the new grid-view. An improvement would be to add more columns (currently only 3), in order to have more offers above the fold.

Great work! :-)

@NJ - Yes you're right, it all comes to a real-estate problem :) I find Shopoon / PureShopping has come with an interesting solution : same width as Kelkoo, filters and LREC same height, then below offers taking the full width of the page (5 columns instead of 3). This make a lot of sense ; and may be sthg to explore on Kelkoo.
