Twenga has launched a new Questions&Answers service on its FR site. Only available on some categories (i.e: Digital Cameras, Mobile Phones, MP3 Players), this new service is very similar to what Yahoo! Answer offers, including the premices of reputation management (askers can choose the best answer ; users can thumb up or down an answer…).
Twenga is not the first shopping engine to introduce such Q&A service: Pricegrabber launched discussion forums a long time ago (i.e: forum on digital cameras) ; Decido.de, a German site, launched Q&A in 2007 (i.e: Q&A on notebooks). But, compared to these two services, it will be interesting to see if/how Twenga will make this destination successful. I imagine this service is part of a strategy to get users more engaged on the site : being a pure crawler-based shoppping engine means no revenue from merchants, but ad-based business model. It is therefore important for Twenga to develop its audience, and such service makes a lot of sense.
Along with this new Q&A service, Twenga introduces some new category homepages: a way to give an overview of the category (top brands, top products, top offers, top stores…), maybe get some more SEO juice, and introduce the Q&A service (via a tab system).
