Google pushing Product Search in its top navigation (again)

November 25, 2007

On its US site, Google has pushed Product Search in its top navigation, replacing the Video link that now appears in the “more” drop-down. In 2006, the Froogle link – previous name of Product Search – was removed from the top tabs in favor of Video. It seems Google is still not really sure what to do with its shopping product. Is it a temporary move that will only last till the end of the Christmas season, or will it stay like this for a couple of extra months? In the last scenario, I wish we could see some improvements on Product Search that hasn’t really evolved since my last review in April 07.

If it’s worth noting this change, I’m wondering what effects this could have on Video and Product Search – will the change of the navigation bar drive more traffic to Product Search? I would like to know…
