Hi Charlotte,
Shopping listings in web listings: indeed, this is an important part of the Universal Search strategy by Google. As always with Google, the algorithm is sophisticated enough to make it difficult for webmasters to understand how to optimize their content to be placed :)

For sure, optimizing feeds with good title / description / photos / ... is good for optimized placements. I would suggest reading http://www.singlefeed.com/public/blog/ if you are interesting by this area.

Going forward, with Google Product Search slightly moving from a free channel to an advertising channels, that could change. But Google may then face criticisms by including paid results into its web search results.

Great post and covers all the features I've seen on Google Merchant and Product listings. I have seen the Shopping listings being integrated in to the web listings this week.......what are your views on this and how to optimise your feed to get included?
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('13050','Charlotte Britton','Great post and covers all the features I\'ve seen on Google Merchant and Product listings.
