First screenshots of next-gen Microsoft Live Search

This week, the first screenshots of the next-gen Microsoft Live Search – code-named Kumo – surfaced on the web following a leaked internal memo from Microsoft. The main feature of this new version seems to be the clustering of search results:

  • Searching for “audi s8″ bringsparts“, “used“, “accessories“, “sale“… clusters
  • Searching for “bose lifestyle 48” brings “review“, “manual“, “prices“, “repair“… clusters

Kumo is not the first attempt to clusterize search results; let’s wait and see if MS found a way to provide relevant clusters whatever the search query is… If this is the case, then Kumo could really change the classic search experience, and also change the way indexed pages from shopping engines are displayed on the search results; in the ”bose lifestyle 48“, all product pages from shopping engines seem to be displayed in the “Prices” umbrella.
