The Zlio-Amazon imbroglio: what a press!
Today, Zlio announced on their US blog – and via an email to their users – that “one week ago Amazon informed [Zlio] that they no longer wished to have Zlio promote Amazon products in the United States“. It’s indeed a strange move from Amazon that likely rely on their affiliate network. More interesting is that this story has been covered in the main Web 2.0-oriented blogs just a few hours later:
- Zlio cut off by Amazon, on Mashable
- Zlio banned from Amazon, on TechCrunch
- Amazon gets tough with Zlio, on ReadWriteWeb
Two main reasons are mentioned: either Zlio played on the borderline with Amazon terms and conditions, or Amazon saw Zlio as a competitor to their aStore service.
Whatever… Even if it’s a good story for those three important blogs to trash giant Amazon, I hope this inexpected press coverage will let more users discover the really interesting Zlio service.
