Overview

When using FeedWordPress plug-in to aggregate RSS feeds into a Wordpress blog, it could be interesting to tag in an automatic way the incoming articles. On the other side, there is a great plug-in called WP Calais Archive Tagger, that relies on the Open Calais semantic analysis and perform some tag extraction from the content you write… However, this tag extraction only happens when you are writing a post…

The aim of FeedWordPressAutoTagger (sorry I have not managed to find a shorter yet meaningful name for it :) ) is to bridge the gap between FeedWordPress and WP Calais Archive Tagger: it performs automatic tag extraction using WP Calais Archive Tagger for new articles retrieved by FeedWordPress.

It is indeed a niche plug-in that could be useful for those interested to build a blog aggregation platform – I developed this plug-in to build a competitive intelligence tool.

Requirements

• Wordpress 2.8+ (might work on older versions)
• FeedWordPress 2009.1112+ (might work on older versions)
• WP Calais Archive Tagger 1.4+ (might work on older versions)

How to install it?

1. Extract the ZIP archive into your “wp-content/plugins/” directory. A new folder named “wp-feedwordpressautotagger” will be created.
2. Log into your administration panel, click on “Plugins” tab and activate the “WP-FeedWordPressAutoTagger” plugin.
